June was a very busy month for us at Recruiting Nevada. We set out to accomplish several goals and we will look back and consider June to be a ‘break through’ month.
Localizing the Recruiting Nevada Network
One of our long term goals is to get our network of employment websites to be truly reflective of the employment opportunities available in Nevada. In the past, RecruitingNevada.com, has been our ‘nucleus’ job board with all jobs appearing on it while other job boards in our network containing jobs relevant to the audience that that particular website reaches. For instance the Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce Career Center only presents jobs available by members of the Las Vegas Chamber. And only health care jobs in Southern Nevada appear on the Career Center for the Southern Nevada Medical Industry Coalition.
LasVegasSun.com/Jobs will soon be our ‘nucleus’ job board with all jobs appearing on it. This will allow RecruitingNevada.com to continue to fulfill its’ mission of attracting hard-to-find professionals such as nurses, doctors, teachers and engineers to our great state of Nevada.
Building Local Level Traffic
The traffic to LasVegasSun.com/jobs surpassed RecruitingNevada.com’s traffic for the first time. This is due to our search engine marketing efforts as well as the fact that LasVegasSun.com now delivers over 12 million page views each month. Two key important facts:
- Users/Readers of LasVegasSun.com are local jobseekers. This fulfills are goal of becoming the best local job board in addition to attracting the best out-of-market talent.
- RecruitingNevada.com continues to deliver the same volume and quality of professionals as it has done for our clients in the past. Our candidate matching system delivers unparalleled results to health care, education, technology and other employers looking for talent that does not exist in Nevada.
The overall traffic to the Recruiting Nevada Network has more than doubled since Greenspun Media Group acquired us. And the traffic growth has been dominantly made up of the local jobseeker.
This retooling of our technology is quite an undertaking, but will deliver the ultimate experience for both of our clients: the jobseeker and employer. This also allows Recruiting Nevada to be the ‘platform’ of which employment ads are served, rather than the destination that jobseekers visit. Our end goal is to make sure jobseekers are finding employment opportunities served by the Recruiting Nevada Network, regardless of the website of which they are served.
Re-branding of the Career Fair:
As we were localizing the job board, we realized it would make sense to re-brand the Career Fair to match LasVegasSun.com. The Las Vegas Sun has such an established brand and has been recognized as the leading newspaper in Las Vegas for over 50 years. The events will be held at the same, exclusive Green Valley Ranch location and follow the same format as we have found success with in the past. We will continue to expand our seminar series to include presentations to ‘deliver a more prepared and qualified jobseeker.’
QUICK PREVIEW - What we are working on in July
July appears as if it will be equally as productive as June. Our development team is putting the finishing touches on several major projects that will forever change the functionality of the Recruiting Nevada Network. Here is a highlight of what we are working on:
- We will continue our re-branding efforts of the Guest Room Attendant.
- We will give a facelift to our corporate website
- We will launch a Live Chat on the job board that will provide jobseekers instant access to our technical support team
- We will launch a jobseeker-focused blog with articles provided by our clients and partners. If you would like to be a contributing author, please get in contact with me.
- We will launch a jobseeker-targeted newsletter, delivered monthly to registered jobseekers
- We will launch a new section focused on higher and post-secondary education
And although this is not a software development, it is worthy of mention….Recruiting Nevada will host a round-table discussion for SNMIC focusing on the issues we face with getting new nurse graduates jobs in Southern Nevada. We already have 40 registered participants made up of Nursing School Deans, Nurse Executives, Nurse Educators, nurse licensure representatives and other prominent health care leaders. This solution-based meeting will begin the planning process of how we can correct the issue of ‘growing (and keeping) our own registered nurses.’
